It’s a wonderful day when the Director of Adult Faith Formation receives a call from a parishioner who wants to Respond to the Spirit by creating a new, on-going adult formation offering; in this instance, a Book Club!
The new Parish Book Club, co-ordinated by Laurie Pascutti, will share an inaugural Lenten offering, Seven Last Words: An Invitation to a Deeper Friendship with Jesus, by Fr. James Martin. Beginning Thursday, February 23rd, the group will gather at 9:15 AM, in the Conference Room of the Ministry Center, and meet weekly for seven weeks. At the end of this time, the group will decide on their next book together and consider a schedule appropriate to their needs.
This first book, Seven Last Words, contains a series of meditations on the seven sayings of Jesus from the cross, which reveal not only Jesus’s love and forgiveness, but also why we can confidently turn to him with our worries, fears, and doubts. Through his seven last words we are invited to come to know Jesus as a friend and accompany him in his human suffering as he accompanies us in ours. This Lent, ALL ARE WELCOME to come into a deeper friendship with Jesus!
