Laundry Love uniquely serves low and no income individuals and families in the Stevens Point area. On Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, South Point Laundromat transforms into a place of hospitality amid washers, dryers, bundles of quarters and bubbles!
You might not realize it, but laundromat-laundering is expensive: a large load costs $6.50 and drying is .25 per 6 min increments. As you can imagine, that adds up—particularly for young families!
Eight churches so far contribute to Laundry Love’s operation with volunteers and support. I hope to encourage Holy Spirit Parishioners to contribute quarters, detergent and their company. Currently, only one person among 28 volunteers hails from Holy Spirit. We can help further, right!?
This winter, Laundry Love’s numbers have fluctuated given worries about ICE, deportation and sub-zero temperatures—but they’re beginning to rise again. Up from January, February’s Tuesday numbers have nearly doubled (with Wednesday’s remaining about the same). One caveat to note, is that daily closing times and monthly statistics vary given fluctuating contexts: While each day begins with a $225.00 cash box and each neighbor may launder a maximum of 5 loads x week; should numbers exhaust funds prior to closing, then the operation ends for that day and families arrive to find they must “come again.” Imagine how that feels or the work that involves?
Keeping such variations in mind, here are February 2025 numbers.
Days | Neighbors Served | Number of Wash Loads | Total Cost |
Tuesdays | 67 | 166 | $1035. |
Wednesdays | 48 | 117 | $693. |

Here are 2024’s total numbers.
